Principle 03
Relationships Over Possessions
Possessions can improve life, but relationships are what give life weight, memory, and meaning.

Relationships matter more than possessions.
Almost everything we buy depreciates. Almost every relationship we invest in appreciates. The math is not close, and yet most of us budget as if it were.
Most things we buy lose value. They age, break, get replaced, or become normal after the excitement fades. Relationships are different. The right relationships tend to appreciate with time, attention, trust, and shared history.
That does not mean money and possessions do not matter. They do. But they should serve the life we are trying to build, not quietly replace the people who make that life meaningful.
When life becomes difficult, the things we own rarely carry us. People do. That is why Lean on People and What a Meaningful Life Requires belong close to this principle: relationships deserve deliberate investment, not whatever attention is left over after everything else.
